Future Development of Hercules

The City is working with developers on many different sites around our town.  Here are some brief
summaries of these projects.

The Waterfront Area is still being planned by the developer, Anderson-Pacific, and the City.  The City staff and
representatives of A-P are meeting weekly.
The Friends of Hercules respect the process involved in this
vision for the Waterfront.  At this point the discussion between the developer and the City are not public.  Citizens,
however, are invited to the informational meetings noted above.  Public input will be welcomed after the developer
has met the basic requirements to submit an application.

(The images and text below describe only tentative concepts and proposals.)

Above: The Waterfront Area with incomparable views of the Bay-
a geographic treasure in the Bay Area.  A Multi-Modal Station located
at the end of John Muir Parkway would link connections to
bus, train and ferry service.

Refugio Valley Creek, the bay shoreline and other environmentally
sensitive areas are situated here.

Below: Point Hercules .  A fabulous place for a park.  Currently,
however is zoned as commercial property, which is a real concern
for the F.O.H. Toxic materials have yet to be cleaned from this
area.

Plans are for a Tuscan style residential community with shopping

Below: The Bay Trail  A goal of our group is to see that the Bay Trail continues
from Victoria by the Bay past the shoreline in front of Bio-Rad and through
the waterfront development of Hercules in order to connect in Pinole.
Our thanks goes to Bio-Rad for helping to make this happen.

New Concept: The Bay Water Trail
Kayaks and small boats could skirt the bay shoreline.  What role
could Pt. Hercules play?

                  ******

East Side of Freeway:

Part of the New Town Center is where the Park and Ride Exists today.
The rest will be built on the area east of 80 and south of highway 4.
This hospitality corridor is called "Cinema Town" but that concept is being
reviewed as many residents in Hercules have home theaters or large
screen televisions."

The Hercules exit off 80 will be moved to a place by Willow Avenue
near the Valley Bible Church.  The new Park and Ride will be in the center
of this new area, the purple area in the map immediately below.  A movie
complex and shopping will be located here.
